Dnepropetrovsk Memorial

Dnepropetrovsk monument and eternal flame dedicated to victims and fallen soldiers of the Great Patriotic War (1941-1945). Located at the end of Karl Marx Prospekt overlooking the Dnieper River.

Alexander Pol Statue

Monument dedicated to Alexander Pol (1832-1890), Ukrainian naturalist and archeologist who accidently opened the Kryvyi Rih iron ore basin (in the Dnepropetrovsk region) in 1886.

Preobrazhensky Cathedral

An example of Russian Classicism, the cathedral was founded by Prince Potemkin in 1786 by by order of Catherine the Great. Its spire reaches 139m in height.

Monastery Island

It was on this historic Dnepropetrovsk island where Byzantine monks founded a monastery in the 9th century. Destroyed by Tatars in the 13th century, its now home to St. Nicholas Cathedral, shown on the right hand side of the photograph.
