	House of Soviets The House of Soviets, started in 1960, was intended to be the new Communist Party Headquarters. It was ironically completed after the fall of the Soviet Union in 2005. Nicknamed the "Monster", it sits on the remnants of the Königsberg Castle which dated back to the 13th century Teutonic Knights. Photo by Maarten see copyright information
	Königsberg Castle Photo of Königsberg Castle in 1895. The castle's interior was burnt out in 1944 by Royal Air Force bombing and in 1945 by Soviet artillery. The remaining structure was completely destroyed in 1968 by the Soviet Government to make way for the new building (above) which was intended to be a symbol of Soviet power.

	Amber Museum The Amber Museum in Kaliningrad, Russia is located inside of the Dohn Bastion, a German fortification built from 1852 to 1853.
