Novosibirsk (Новосибирск) is situated in south-central Russia on the Ob River (see map). In the heart of Siberia, Novosibirsk symbolizes Siberia, its richness, its vast expanses and its kind people with strong spirits.
Today, Novosibirsk is the 3d largest city in Russia by population and by area. The city is divided into 10 administrative districts, two of which are situated on the left and eight on the right bank of the Ob River. The city is a financial, business and trade center. More than 50 banks, the Siberian Interbank Currency Exchange, the stock exchange "Siberian Fair" and more than 150 insurance and financial companies, as well as branch offices of foreign companies work here.
