Russia Visa Support

Step 1: Do you need a Russia visa invitation? If necessary, apply.

Currently all foreigners must apply for a letter of invitation (excluding most citizens of the CIS). Follow the link to apply for a Russian visa invitation.

Step 2: Complete a visa Russia application form.

The second step requires that you complete the appropriate Russia visa application form and submit it with your invitation, passport-size photo and the original copy of your passport to the nearest Russian consulate.

a. To obtain the application form, you need to visit the Russian embassy or consulate's website. A very useful tool for locating embassies and consulates can be found at www.embassyworld.com. If there is no Russian consulate in your resident country, look for the consulate in a larger neighboring country.

b. Once you find the the Russian embassy or consulate's website, follow the links to the Consular Section (Visas, Passports) where there will be a printable version of the application form.

c. Print, complete and sign the application form.

d. Submit the application form along with your invitation, visa application fees, passport-size photo and original copy of your passport to the nearest Russian consulate.

Step 3: Russia Visa Registration

In Russia, you have 3 business days (excluding weekends and holidays) to register your visa.

  • If you are staying in a hotel, they will register your visa for a small fee.
  • If you are staying in an apartment or with friends, you should register your visa with the agency (or partner agency) with whom you obtained your invitation. (If you use our referred agency, they have partners in Moscow, St. Petersburg, plus a host of other Russian cities).
  • If your final destination is in a different city and you are not staying at a hotel, you will need to register your visa with an independent agency or at a local OVIR office. To register your visa you will need to present your passport and travel voucher.
